A little poem by me, and of course a portrait…

 

I stripped down to my underwear, just for her

Hair and makeup, a snack and a drink

This is a first for me, what the hell did I think?

She had a touch of magic and some sparkle in her soul,

This artist and her gear

And me with barely nothing to wear,

Soon my posing became a breeze,

She made me feel completely at ease.

Look at me so confident,

Look at me!

Look at me shining

Look at me!

Now that I shared in her amazing gift,

Look at me in print

I stripped down to my underwear, just for me!!!

 

CJ

I have photographed many warrior woman in my studio, but this lady is just phenomenal, I am privileged to have met and spent time with her.

This is CJ, breast cancer survivor, she has the scars to show of her incredibly brave journey, and yet she is kind and still smiles at the world.

I am reminded constantly in my business, how relentless the human spirit is and how brave women can be.

Natasha and Chanel

Good Morning 🙂

My latest mom/daughter session. Natasha (Mom) and Chanel, this was a special one! I always ask my ladies to try bring matching outfits, because it makes a huge difference in a portrait. Natasha and Chanel came with the most gorgeous outfits and WOW just look at these gorgeous girls!!!

It was a special day for them, a bit of bonding time together, with lots of laughs and love and shared. Both posed so beautifully, both look so amazing! Their portraits will become their legacy and family heirloom to be treasured and remembered (this gives me goosebumps)

When I do a mom/daughter session, I photograph individual portraits and together portraits. We are doing two collection boxes here (because there are just too many gorgeous portraits to choice from).

Today is Natasha’s birthday, so my post is perfect timing to say:
“Natasha, happy birthday beautiful woman. Thank you for such special time together, thank you for trusting me to photograph you and Chanel, thank you for supporting my dream, thank you for your kindness and love and acceptance and generosity. I wish you so many more happy, healthy years ahead filled with love and magic”

“Chanel, you beautiful little lady, you are amazing! You are kind, smart, funny and gorgeous inside and outside. Stay this beautiful as you grow older, and I hope to photograph you through the years of you growing into the special woman I know you will be and thank you for your wine pouring skills 😉”

Shaun

This is my fourth year photographing Shaun, and I hope not the last.

Shaun updates his portfolio once a year and this year we did a casual look for him, and something for fun, Shaun is such a good sport!

Savina

Then I get to photograph Savina, who is seventy years young and drop dead gorgeous!

Savina is a published author, mother, grandmother, wife and avid lover of dancing and music.

I was privileged to received an autographed copy of her book “Falling in love with myself” by Savina Plescia Redpath, which I am almost done reading, it is an inspirational read to say the least. It is a story of the difficulties which an Italian prisoner of war and later immigrant family to South Africa had to endure, it is a story of accepting and learning to love herself as a complete and beautiful person.

Savina, I am so grateful to you, you are amazing in every way, kind, loving, compassionate and simply beautiful.

My business model, broken down a bit:

Being a full service portrait photographer, means going to print, believe me, this is a whole new level of skill required. I have kept my product offering simple, and I trust my suppliers to produce quality for my clients.

Yay, yay, it’s friday, and it’s my moon and stars weekend.

Sixty is the new thirty

For the ladies that I have photographed and who have been to their personal viewing with me, I do a viewing “interview”, where I ask about their experience around their session with me. This is for me to learn and grow in my business, and of course used as a marketing tool.

This is what 99.9% of my ladies tell me:

* My facebook page and advertising is where I am found, I am 
chosen because my work sells itself and they love my success
story, most find me both inspirational and professional
* to feel and look beautiful, self esteem and confidence booster,
present for hubby, present for themselves, achieving a
milestone (such as special birthday’s or weight loss), meeting
me and spending time with me – are the main reasons for
booking me
* they are all very nervous and excited before their session
* they all feel relaxed after their pamper and during their session
* they are all tired but elevated and leave feeling good about
themselves, as well as feeling and looking beautiful after their
sessions.
* they love, love their viewing of their portraits, most cry 😉, and
tell me they can’t believe it is them, they never saw themselves
as being beautiful before.

I know beautiful ladies – and I will find yours.

My personal definition of a portrait:

“To me, a portrait is a creative collaboration between an artist and a sitter, and it’s unique in that sense, as an art form… kind of like a dance between artist and sitter..”
It is not a snap shot/photograph, it takes time to compose, set up, engage and connect with the subject, kind of like magic…

Personal branding portraits for vivacious Viv – sixty is the new thirties 😉

Portrait Glamour

Going back a little, to Leigh’s portrait session. Her smile is infectious! She told me during her session, that she never really liked her smile, but she has learnt to embrace it now. I am so glad she did, because it is GORGEOUS!

Women are such self critical creatures, we all do it to ourselves.

I did a consult yesterday in studio, and my lady asked me what my demographic is in my business model, this was my answer:
” I want to photograph any woman, who has ever looked at herself in the mirror and not felt good enough about herself at any time in her life – because I know beautiful!”

Boudoir

Gorgeous Tami, my boudie babe from a while back.

To me, boudoir does not have to be bits and bobs showing (unless that’s what you want), boudoir can be subtle and upmarket and leave something for the imagination.

Are you shy?
We all are in front of the camera, but this is where I step in, you see I am really good at what I do, I am a loving, caring, fun, professional, and I promise you have nothing to worry about. My sessions are structured and posed, so by the time we start, you will feel relaxed and comfortable. You have no idea how much fun it is to run around in your underwear for the day (how often do we get to do that?). My country studio is home based, humble and private, it becomes your home for the day too, it’s divine here, and we drink wine to calm the nerves 😉

Do you feel like you are overweight?
Curves are beautiful too! Posing is key here, and posing is my game. Anything extra can be nipped and tucked in post production editing. You will look gorgeous, trust me! Most things can be handled in post production, I do listen to what my clients want 😉

I’m on a huge boudoir drive ladies, it’s my favourite genre because I think we are all beautiful and we should be celebrating our bodies and ourselves.
