A little while ago, I posted around my 50 and fabulous portrait session for Andrew.

I couldn’t think of a better gift to give him, a little piece of my soul and a whole lot of love goes into each session that I do. When product is delivered, my soul literally does a happy dance!

Here are some cell phone snappies showing size, and placement of portrait. I chose this spot for Andrew’s portrait, because firstly there is skylight that not only lights by day but by night too, secondly, the stair well and upper deck to his house are a noticeable feature.

PS Tom is his eldest son, called me to say thank you and to tell me that this is his one day, he loves how I have captured his dad for all eternity. Special family heirloom here indeed

So this Mom and fur baby portrait session happened yesterday. My very beautiful friend Olivia, and babies: Spliff, Isabell and Wilson. Happy birthday my special human.

The aim here was to create a large canvas to hang. This is one of my choices.
It was such a fun day!
Tracey was on set for hair and makeup and styling. By the end of the session, she was exhausted. There were 5 puppies in studio (including my two who fell in love with Isabel) to run after, catch and pose, and coax into looking at camera.

Tracey, you are amazing! Thank you for beautiful everything

Olivia, you are simply gorgeous, head to toe, inside out, and I love you so very much my friendy xxx

My Day with Samantha Cowen:

We started with a viewing of Sam’s portraits, before, behind the scenes and edited portraits. Sam was smiling from ear to ear! They truly are beautiful.
A microphone and recorder was then set up for my interview for 702, and my nerves were shot. I dislike my voice, but Sam has a beautiful way about how she leads questions and all I could do was be myself. You must know that my stroke brain had to concentrate extra to not only understand her questions, but answer as best as I could. I kept on forgetting what she asked me lol
During my interview, Leo (my puppy) decided to grab Sam’s knitted scarf and make a dash for it, outside into the leaves and dirt. It was hilarious watching Sam making the scarf rescue, and bringing it back in looking a pile of leaves as opposed to a piece of clothing. He later on tried stealing stealing her boots and then her handbag, which was very ambitious of him, because he is so tiny in comparison. I think Leo was trying to make me relax by giving us a laugh.
The interview was 2 hours long, which will obviously be edited before going to air (I will keep you all posted)
Sam’s closing statement to me was”in twenty years Ursula, I have never had such beautiful photographs, you are so clever!”
She is amazing, down to earth and quite hilarious actually.
Oh and I got a beautiful bouquet of roses – how sweet?
for those that did not see my Facebook page, here is Sam’s before and after,

little bit of info on a session:

A portrait session with me takes 2 – 6 hours, and I always try at least two different looks per session.

We do a wardrobe consult before shooting, and advise what to wear. I always chuckle at the panic before shoot day “What must I wear?” “What must I bring?”. I am planning on bringing wardrobe into studio to try solve this epidemic us ladies seem to have, but for now, it’s bring what you love to wear, and as I am a bit of a jackdaw and love glam, you cannot go wrong in an evening dress (even I have an evening dress – this jeans and takkies country girl lol)

For Sam, we did a combination of formal and Glam Sam. Both looks equally beautiful. Hannelie was on set throughout to change makeup and hair, and it was magical.

Here is a pic to illustrate.

Ladies book your session, we all need a professional profile these days and while we are at it, let’s chuck in a bit of glam or underwear

Here is Sam:

My gift to my “hubby” was a Fifty and fabulous portrait session.

I will be printing a large canvas for him soon, as a family heirloom, to pass down to his sons, Tom and luke, to be passed down to their children, and their children, and so on.

Of course my puppy Spartacus had to jump into a shot.

Because sometimes I photograph men and pets too:

This beautiful soul has come into my life, as a friend and my new studio partner. Tracey, I am beyond grateful for you and our new venture as a team, I believe we are going to conquer the world together. Tracey is not only a hair and makeup artist (a very talented one at that) but a business woman, re-toucher, marketer, and and and.
So to celebrate in true Ursula. T style….
A portrait just for you, beautiful woman.
Hair and makeup by Tracey, for Tracey.

I love you

I get to meet the most amazing woman in studio, Each one unique in their beauty, This is Rochelle, and she is beautiful.

Tuesday this week, I had the absolute honour of doing a portrait session for Samantha Cowen (from radio 702), we will be doing a radio interview session next week too, which will be aired. I hate the sound of my voice by the way, but I have a beautiful story to share, and I have a purpose after surviving my strokes, so I will do it with love and gratitude to Samantha –  for the opportunity I am eternally grateful!

Sam is amazing, and beautiful down to her very core, in between the chats, laughs and selfies, a very real, down to earth personality was apparent. We did a natural Sam and a glam Sam session – both equally beautiful!

Hannelie burger was on set doing hair and makeup (beautifully!) and Tracey, my new studio partner (more about this later)

I will let you all know when you can listen in, but for today a few behind the scenes before pics:

two naughty children:I will be posting Samantha’s portraits next week, so keep a look out.

PS: I love my little studio, my life and the very amazing woman I get to meet and photograph constantly..

Come try me for a session? it WILL change the way you see yourself, I promise!

I am excited to share my knowledge

This is Ceasar, a pet portrait session which was a birthday gift for his daddy.

I must admit I was a little intimidated when I first met him. He is HUGE! But after a quick introduction, and lots of slobbery kisses, I knew we would be fine.

My studio is a humble country cottage, and it works for pets here, so why not bring yours along for a portrait session and a fun outing?

Now it is not that easy creating portraits of pets, because they are excitable and don’t really like to sit and pose. I think I did alright here.

What a magnificent specimen of doberman Ceasar is. He was so good!
